Our History
Smart Surfaces, Inc. was founded in 1988 in Tampa, Florida. We started out as a two man crew applying simple stains and sealers to wooden decks and concrete anywhere we could. Within a year we where introduced to the process of installing epoxy coatings to concrete floors as a means of dustproofing and protecting it against wear.
We took to this like ducks to water. Our founder, Ken Walker had first sprayed automotive paints in the family autobody shop starting at age 11. His experience with metal surface preparation, repair and finishing served as a perfect foundation from which we serve our clients today. Our dedication to detail in every facet of polymer flooring insures the finished product is as good as it can be. Our quality control begins with Ken's personal supervision. His commitment to meeting our obligation of giving the client the quality and value they expect has not wavered for over 30 years.
Today Smart Surfaces, Inc. covers the southeastern US installing specialty floor systems for numerous commercial and private clients. Ultra fast overnight installations using MMA Acrylic and Urethane Cement hybrid systems save our customers money by reducing or eliminating lost revenue from closing operations.
Our basic philosophy of always putting the overall performance of the floor system above it's design value when considering budget, although some times unpopular, has benefited our customers. If it peels off, wears out or turns baby puke green , it doesn't matter how pretty or cheap it was when the installer drove away with your money.
